FINCA in DOKUFEST

On behalf of FINCA Kosovo, Ella Beavers announced the winner of the category of Best Short Film Fiction by director Karchi Perlman of Hungary ‘Vacsora – The Dinner’ and awarded 1000 Euro. At the same time, Ms. Beavers also announced the special nomination from DOKUFEST film Jury for the film ‘Koromal – The Grass Snake’ from Azerbaijan from the directors Khayyam Abdoullayev and Elmaddin Aliyev.
Just like other years, including this year, FINCA continues to sponsor the international film documentary festival and short film ‘DOKUFEST’ and as a result has won the status of ‘Traditional Sponsor’. For this and more, the director of FINCA Kosovo, Ella Beavers gives us this interview in ‘DokuDaily’.
DokuDaily: Despite the financial crises, even this year you decided to support DOKUFEST?
Beavers: As a sponsor of this festival since the start, FINCA feels that it is part of this family. Family members have the responsibility for one another in progressive days as well as crisis days. It is a fact that the financial crisis has touched the world, if it is felt in Kosovo it does not have to demoralize us but it has to make us tough. DOKUFEST is a very important cultural event which opens up the spirit of the people and brings happiness to Kosovar families and plays an important part by affecting positively and psychologically. So, regardless of the global crises, we, as FINCA, try as much as possible to support DOKUFEST which now has taken the form as a traditional festival as well as an important international festival.
DokuDaily: FINCA continues to be the traditional sponsor of DOKUFEST. Why?
Beavers: FINCA supports DOKUFEST 8 years now and continues to be the traditional sponsor. FINCA and DOKUFEST are rather similar in making, both have begun their activities with modest team but after 8 years, FINCA as well as DOKUFEST have increased their activities, are expected good by the citizens as well as both entities do professional work.
DOKUFEST is one of the most important cultural activities in Kosovo that in itself includes various nationals, as in the cultural level and intellectual level, not only in the region but even further. Therefore FINCA has the honors to be part of this project with the financial support offered.
DokuDaily: You are with DOKUFEST since the beginning. How do you evaluate the development of the festival?
Beavers: This event challenges the borders and brings populations and different cultures in one hall and we are proud that we see a development and increase of the reputation of DOKUFEST in the world. I consider this development of DOKUFEST as a sign that the world estimates Kosovo as an international state with its own culture, its own identity and is able to organize such important international events.
DokuDaily: What fresh things does FINCA bring to DOKUFEST?
Beavers: FINCA continues to be present in DOKUFEST not only with financial help but also with the voluntary help to support the work of DOKUFEST. Since the beginning of the festival, FINCA has been sponsoring an activity which supports the work of young volunteers. We believe that they are the essence of team work, solidarity, taking responsibility, and in my opinion, voluntarism is the ‘spirit’ of this festival and I can say that it is one the features that varies DOKUFEST from other festivals
